Day 1 (technically)

Okay, technically it should be day 2 because I arrived yesterday night in Hong Kong but today was really the day that I actually did stuff. Okay fine, this would be day 2 but I want to keep my title as "Day 1 (technically) because I want to.

Day "1"
Plane ride via Cathay Pacific was alright, went through alot of turbulence... BUT I kept myself distracted and watched 4 movies: Wanderlust, Friends with Kids, LOVE, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (or Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close...................whatever.) FUN FACT: I love plane food, I think it plays a vital part of a plane ride. Got home (house of my grandma, and 2 relative families) via ride from uncle. Hey, another FUN FACT: my cousin's (24) 18 year old girlfriend has been staying at this house since I don't know when! Not sure how I feel about it, but I'm sure there's a good reason for it.

Day 1 (...2)
This is where the fun begins. Woke up at 7am (yay jetlag) and went to grab breakfast with Porpor (grandma) and my mom :) Did some catching up with my grandma, in which she eventually tells us why Kelly (gf) stays with us; not going to share it since it's private, but it was a good reason, trust me.
ANYWAYS, shops in HK don't open until 11-12 (insane, such lazy people.) Met my BFFL Nina T. at MongKok mtr station, you have no idea how excited I was to see her. She brought her friend Sabrina which I've met a few times and heard of, but she's hella chill and hilarious. Shopped in a super cheap-buy mall, in which probably the most epic moment of the day happened.

Nina wanted to exchange a pair of shorts at one of the stores, so we hung around the mall (it doesn't open until 12...what.) until the store opened. Store opened, Nina approached salesperson (or sales bitch, same thing) to ask for a size exchange. SB tells her that the store policy was to exchanges after 2pm (wtf?) but there was literally NO ONE at that frikken mall, so Nina asked why they couldn't just do it then, since NO ONE is there for her to hard-sell to (valid point). This went on back and forth for a good 5 minutes, until Nina stopped trying to put some sense into that ...SB. Right when Nina turns away, SB immediately talks smack about Nina thinking that she doesn't understand canto. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, never underestimate ANYONE's understanding of a different language, especially if it consists of swear words... ESPECIALLY if it's my friend Nina. She's probably one of the bravest people I know, and of course Nina turned back and straight up told her that she understood everything the SB said, and told her to pay a little respect because she is the customer afterall... But of course since SB is a B... she said "why should I pay you respect, you're not my mom" (wtfxinfinity seriously.) REALLY? That was just plain rude, but Nina had class and decided not to even bother talking to that SB anymore and we left to shop until 2pm. But I'm still so amazed by how brave Nina is, and how disturbed that SB is. Wish I could've done something but I didn't :( (sorry Nina)

We eventually walked to Woman Street (Lui Yan Gai), cheapest buys you'll ever find (maybe because its all wholesale and probably 99% fake), and since it was outdoors we were sweating like no tomorrow (yay?). We departed our ways since we all had our schedules to attend to, in which I said my good-bye for 3 months to Nina at the MTR station :( Not liking the idea of not seeing her for so long :'(

Then, the kind of but not so epic moment of my day: I MTR'd and bussed all the way home for the FIRST TIME EVER in all my years I've been in Hong Kong... That was pretty exciting, and lame... an 18 year old bussing alone for the first time in HK. HAH, but I was pretty proud of myself. I was just paranoid the entire forty minute bus ride, because I thought I got on the wrong bus.... BUT I DIDN'T AND I MADE IT HOME, FOR DINNER, LATE, BUT ALIVE (thats all the matters).

That's enough excitement and already more details than necessary of my day. I'm terrible and summarizing any sort of writing, though I'm pretty sure you've already noticed that. I'll try and cut down on my writing next post :) Until tomorrow!

Cheers,
Jody
